Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Takoma Park

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (AP) -- Police say a pedestrian was killed while trying to cross New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park.

Prince George's County police say Walter Franco-Chinchilla, 32, was struck by two cars late Saturday night as he crossed the road. He was not in a crosswalk, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the drivers of both vehicles remained on the scene and are cooperating with the investigation. Police say speed is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
