Pedestrian Killed Along I-70 Near Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a Hagerstown man has died after he was struck by a tractor-trailer on the shoulder of Interstate 70 near the western Maryland city.

The tractor-trailer driver reported the incident shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday.

Police say 32-year-old Brian Wylie had parked his pickup truck on the right-hand shoulder of the eastbound lanes due to mechanical problems. They say the flashers were on and Wylie was outside the vehicle.

Police say the tractor-trailer left the travel lanes and hit the pickup truck and then hit Wylie.

They say the tractor-trailer driver wasn't hurt.
