O's Fans Counting Down The Hours Until ALCS Gets Started
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Game day is upon us. The ALCS is just a few short hours away from getting started. The Orioles and their fans are excited and ready as the birds inch one step closer to the World Series.
Jessica Kartalija reports the field is in pristine condition, and downtown is getting more and more crowded.
Fans say they've been waiting for this for so long that any amount of rain is not going to dampen their spirits.
With hours until first pitch...
"Who doesn't love a major league game? I've never been here, and it's gorgeous," one O's fan said.
Fans come from afar to see the O's take on the Royals.
"Been waiting 17 years. I walked up and got lucky, got a club return ticket. Paid a lot, and not unhappy about it," said another fan.
And for fans hoping to take their chances on Friday night's game, there are tickets still available for about $250 a piece.
Reporter: "You drove all the way down here from where?"
Fan: "From Toronto, Canada to watch the Baltimore Orioles advance to the World Series."
The question is will they play Friday night or get rained out? The game would be postponed until Saturday.
"I'm excited I got a ticket, but I'm nervous about it being played," said one O's fan.
"I am extremely excited. It's been such a long time. I went to the last ALCS game in 1997--I barely remember it. But, I cannot wait for tonight," another O's fan said.
Reporter: What are your predictions?
Fan: "Orioles in six games, hopefully. Another World Series would be wonderful."
If Friday night's game is rained out, Game 1 will be played at 4:07 p.m. Saturday. People with tickets to Friday night's game will go to Saturday's game.
Game 2 would then be played on Sunday. No time has been announced, but people with tickets to Saturday's game would go to Sunday's game.
It's expected that game would be played in the afternoon since the teams will have to fly to Kansas City for Monday's game.
