O's All Stars Ready For Mid-Summer Classic

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Mid-Summer Classic. Plenty of orange and black on the American League squad.

Jessica Kartalija with more on the Orioles all stars.

The Orioles have four all stars--the second most in the last ten years.

Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. The best of the best in baseball. The American League all stars taking on the National League all stars.

The game is the hot topic for Vinny and Rob on WJZ-FM 105.7 The Fan.

"You expect Adam Jones to be in it. He's the choice every year. He is almost automatic," said Rob Long.

Jones, Manny Machado and relievers Zach Britton and Darren O'Day are selected to take part this year.

"Manny Machado--when healthy--Zach Britton, 23 out of 24 saves. But the guy that shocked me: Darren O'Day. Overlooked. Happy for him," Long said.

Jones is the only Orioles starter. He will bat sixth and play left field.

"It's good that baseball and the players and our peers, between those lines, they see the hard work and what we put into it," said Jones.

"It's old hat for him. Manny Machado...he's that good. He's going to be fine. Zach Britton--the pitchers are going to stay in their routine," Long said.

The game comes one night after Manny Machado hit 12 home runs in the derby. He lost in the first round, but it was an impressive performance.

"Isn't it special to watch him right now? Twenty-two, going on 23 years old and he has the baseball world in the palm of his hands," said Long said.

The outcome of the game is significant because the winner will get home field advantage in the World Series.
