Orioles To Auction Off Their Memorial Day Jerseys & Caps

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Throughout the Memorial Day holiday weekend, all Orioles uniformed personnel will wear ripstop woodland camouflage-designed jerseys and caps on the road and at home. The Memorial Day jerseys and caps will also feature five stars to represent the five branches of the military. The Orioles will wear a gray road version of the jersey on Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28, while visiting the Houston Astros, and a home white version of the jersey on Monday, May 29, when they host the New York Yankees at 1:05 p.m. ET.

The authenticated, game-worn, autographed jerseys and caps worn at home on Memorial Day will be auctioned at www.orioles.com/auctions to benefit the Baltimore Orioles Charitable Foundation and the Fort Meade Alliance Foundation. The auction will begin on Monday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. and conclude on Tuesday, June 6 at 10:00 p.m.

All fans attending Monday's game will receive an Orioles Memorial Day T-shirt.

Prior to the game, GUNNERY SERGEANT MANUEL PEREZ from U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command will throw out the ceremonial first pitch with COL. THOMAS RICKARD accompanying him to the mound. The 1st Battalion, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment "The Old Guard," provided by the Military District of Washington, will present the colors as nine active service men and women from Fort Meade take the field with Orioles players during SFC RANDY WIGHT's rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner." Wight will also perform "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch. At 3:00 p.m., the Orioles and Yankees will join all Major League Baseball clubs in pausing for an extended moment of silence in observance of the National Moment of Remembrance.

The Fort Meade Alliance Foundation is a nonprofit organization that manages charitable initiatives designed to support the Fort Meade installation, military personnel and their families, civilians, and the broader Fort Meade Community. The foundation will use the auction proceeds to help with an anticipated $3.6 million in renovations to a facility on Fort Meade, establishing a Resiliency Center. The Orioles have raised more than $70,000 in the past four years for the Fort Meade Alliance Foundation through Memorial Day Jersey and Cap Auctions.
