Let's Go O's! Fans Confident Orioles Will Win ALCS Against Royals
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Game 1 of the American League Championship Series is here, and it's turning into a real fight. The Orioles are facing the tough Kansas City Royals at Camden Yards.
Rick Ritter reports the stakes are high and the fans are pumped.
The atmosphere is unreal. You could hear the stadium from blocks away. Fans say win or lose game one, they couldn't be more confident in the O's.
It's the Orioles' first ALCS showdown since 1997. Baltimore's finest don't disappoint. Inside Camden Yards, there's an atmosphere like no other. A sea of orange erupts for Game 1.
More than 45,000 can't miss out on being a part of history.
"We've been waiting for this year after year and now we have the team to do it," said Nathan Nobary.
Over at Pickle's Pub, those not lucky enough to snag tickets are glued to every big screen, watching every O's play as if it's their last
"It's absolutely out of control right now," Nobary said.
As if the city wasn't fired up enough, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake made a bold move Friday. This came after Kansas City's mayor changed their Baltimore Avenue to "Royals Way."
"We were not going to be outdone by Mayor James and Kansas City," the mayor said.
Out with the enemy and in with the birds. In a last minute lineup change, Mount Royal Avenue at the intersection of Charles Street now has a new name.
"We are proclaiming Mount Royal during this series will be called Orioles Way," Mayor Rawlings-Blake said.
Needless to say, the entire city of Baltimore is all in.
"Obviously. Why would you not expect the O's to win the series against the Kansas City Royals?" one fan said.
