The Mall in Columbia food court shooting leaves 17-year-old dead
BALTIMORE -- A 17-year-old died from a shooting during a dispute at the food court inside The Mall in Columbia on Saturday, Howard County Police said.
Officers responded around 6:10 p.m. for reports of a shooting at the food court.
Angelo Little, from Columbia, was found dead, police said.
"We don't believe that this was a random incident and we do believe the victim was targeted," Howard County Police spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn said. "We don't have any information about a history of a relationship between the two, but based on our preliminary evidence, this was not a random incident."
Police said there were no indications of an active shooter. No arrests have been made.
"I am aware of the ongoing situation at the Mall in Columbia," Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said. "Our Howard County Police Department is actively investigating and will provide updates as information becomes available."
The Mall in Columbia is operating at normal hours on Sunday.
"We are extremely upset that these individuals chose our center for a targeted act of violence," mall officials said in a statement. "We pride ourselves on being a safe haven for the community to shop, dine and be entertained. Our center maintains a comprehensive and robust security program this is constantly being evaluated to meet the needs of our shoppers. We want to thank our security team and the Howard County Police Department for their swift response."
Authorities are offering a reward of up to $5,000.
