O'Malley Has Surgery After Breaking Elbow

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Former Gov. Martin O'Malley says he's on the mend after breaking his elbow at the gym over the weekend.

O'Malley wrote on his Twitter account Monday that surgery went well and he's "on the road to a quick recovery."

It's not the first time the former governor has injured himself while exercising.

In his first year as governor, O'Malley was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left tibia, or shin bone. The injury in 2007 was related to exercising while running on a treadmill.

O'Malley, a term-limited Democrat, finished his second and final term as governor last month. He is considering a presidential run and is scheduled to speak in South Carolina later this month. He's also scheduled to visit the early primary state of New Hampshire next month.
