O'Malley Adds Senior Adviser To His PAC

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley has named a senior adviser to his political action committee as he considers running for president in 2016.

Lis Smith, a spokeswoman for O'Malley's PAC, said Wednesday that Bill Hyers has been informally advising the committee for the last few months. She says he's stepping up his role as a senior adviser, now that the midterm elections are over.

Hyers managed New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's campaign last year.

He also worked as state director for President Barack Obama's campaign in Pennsylvania in 2012. In 2008, he worked as Midwest director for Obama's campaign.

O'Malley, a Democrat, is term limited. He leaves office Jan. 21.
