Ohio Rabbi Extradited For Alleged Sexual Abuse Of Md. Girl

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 50-year-old rabbi from Ohio accused of sexually abusing a Baltimore County girl is behind bars in Maryland now.

Rabbi Frederick Karp is being held on $5 million bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

He was extradited back to Maryland Wednesday to face charges, including sexual abuse of a minor.

Baltimore County detectives say Karp had been abusing the girl over a "period of time."

According to the office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore County, the abuse occurred between July 4, 2009 and Dec. 10, 2014. Karp would occasionally visit a family in Baltimore County that he was friendly with and during those visits, he allegedly abused the minor girl.

His bail hearing will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Towson District Court.
