Now-Closed Sports Legends Museum To Hold Yard Sale Saturday

BALTIMORE (AP) -- About 1,000 items from the now-closed Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards are set to be sold.

The Baltimore Sun reports the items, most of which are museum-quality reproductions, will be sold Saturday at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. The objects include a framed picture of Johnny Unitas as an infant, as well as a panorama of Baltimore's Municipal Stadium before it was transformed into Memorial Stadium in 1954.

The museum, which opened in 2005, closed in October after it failed to reach a new lease agreement with the Maryland Stadium Authority. Most of its archival memorabilia remains in storage.

Babe Ruth Birthplace Foundation Executive Director Mike Gibbons says although the collectibles are not game-used artifacts, the items, priced from $1 to several hundred dollars, are unique and affordable.
