New Penn State Head Coach James Franklin On Getting His Dream Job

James Franklin is the new head coach for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Franklin was the coach in waiting under Ralph Friedgen at Maryland until a new athletic director came in and brought with him a new regime.

James joined Ed & Steve to talk about taking the Penn State job and other college football topics.

Ed asked James if Penn State was a dream job for him. Coach Franklin said it is a dream, he is from just outside of Philadelphia and to work for his state school is something special. He said they have to work hard to make sure the dream doesn't become a nightmare.

Steve asked Coach Franklin about what happened that drove him from Maryland. Coach Franklin said he wouldn't give details but that he was very appreciative of his time at Maryland and is still close with people in the area. Coach Franklin said he would always have a special place in his heart for Maryland and called Maryland "a part of his home." Coach Franklin also said he wasn't going to take it easy on the Maryland area with recruiting.

When it comes to recruiting Coach Franklin said he wants to dominate the whole area around Penn State and the surrounding states. National Signing Day is just around the corner to see the results of his work.
