New Development Revitalizing Owings Mills

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (WJZ)--A brand new multi-million-dollar development project is promising economic growth for Baltimore County with dozens of businesses opening soon.

Revitalizing Owings Mills with an attractive mix-use space on Reisterstown and Painters Mill Roads.

"It's an area always designated for growth and we are finally seeing the finished product," said Kevin Kamenetz, Baltimore County executive.

After five years of planning Developers Greenberg Gibbons and Vanguard Realty Group proudly unveiled their anchor store, Wegman's in September, which has already become a neighborhood favorite.

"I think we have been here like ten times already," Laurie Volz, who lives in Owings Mills.

This mix-use space will soon be booming with dozens of retail stores restaurants and offices.

"It's going to bring a different population and bring more money into the area and I'm excited to see what it will look like," said area resident Jason Cowens.

This revitalization is also influencing other businesses in the county.

"We are starting to see nearby shopping centers upping their game with facade improvements and investing more money in the area," Kamenetz said.

The destination spot is expected to bring new jobs a big economic boost and a bright future for people living in Owings Mills.

"It's going to increase the property value, going to have a huge bargaining chip when we decide to move, if we decide to move," said Cowens, who lives in Owings Mills.

The Wegmans store at Foundry Row is the 8th one to open in Maryland.

Many of the shops and restaurants are expected to be opening in the next couple of months.
