New Bill May Allow Sunday Hunting In Baltimore County

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A bill that would allow Sunday hunting in Baltimore County is getting a hearing before a Senate committee.

The Senate Committee on Education, Health and Environmental Affairs is scheduled to hear testimony Tuesday regarding legislation that would allow hunters in Baltimore County to hunt on Sunday. The bill is proposed by Sen. Johnny Ray Salling, a Republican from Baltimore County.

It is illegal to hunt on Sundays but some Maryland counties have exemptions to the rule.

According to the bill's fiscal note, while the legislation would allow hunting of game birds and game mammals, the Department of Natural Resources said deer hunting is the type of hunting most likely to see an increase with the Baltimore County exemption.
