Nationals Manager's Vehicle Hit By Car Fleeing From Police
WASHINGTON (WJZ) -- An interesting morning on the airwaves in Washington, D.C. The manager of the Washington Nationals was doing a live interview on the radio Wednesday when he was suddenly interrupted.
Jessica Kartalija has more.
He was live on air giving a play-by-play of a police chase in the nation's capital.
Nationals manager Matt Williams does a daily radio chat with the so-called Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C.
He was live just after 8 a.m. Wednesday when he was suddenly hit from behind by a car fleeing police.
"I just got rear-ended by a guy in a car. Hold on. This guy's crashing into people," he said.

"He was calling from his car on the way to the ballpark and he got rear-ended. Apparently there was a high-speed chase in D.C. and there were helicopters and cops everywhere and the guy who was being chased rear-ended Williams. Then the interview took on a whole new nature," a radio host said.
"I'm good. There was a police car behind me and he was trying to get by me and he just smoked me," Williams said. "I was actually stopped in traffic and I guess he wanted to get through so he decided he was gonna get through. Everything is good, though."
The radio station sent out this Tweet: "Live on air with the Sports Junkies, @Nationals manager Matt Williams was just involved in a hit-and-run crash in D.C. He's not injured."
"He gave a really good description of what was going on. He was a great eyewitness to what was happening down there in D.C. He did a play-by-play. Yeah, he gave a great play-by-play. He went from manager to sports reporter to news reporter mode," said a radio host.
"That's the strangest thing I have ever been a part of right there," he said.
After describing the incident and the scene, Williams went right back to talking about baseball.
Williams is fine. The back of his Chevy Tahoe is in need of repair.
