Muggsy Bogues In Town For Late Sister's Basketball Tourney

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- NBA great and Baltimore native Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues will be in town Monday for a basketball and flag football tournament honoring his late sister.

Sherron Bogues spent decades of her life working with the city's youth, running basketball and football programs for the city's recreation and parks department before she succumbed to cancer last year. She was 55.

In her memory, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake dubbed June 27 Sherron Bogues Day in Baltimore.

Bogues' brother Tyrone, a former Dunbar High standout who played for four teams during his 15-season NBA career,  will be on hand as a guest speaker and presenting trophies to the winners of each tournament.

It's being held at the Druid Hill Park Basketball Court at 3001 East Drive between 3:30 - 8 p.m.
