Morgan State Shooting: $9,000 reward offered, Baltimore Police looking for two shooters
BALTIMORE -- Baltimore Police and university leaders gave an update Friday afternoon on the investigation into the shooting at Morgan State University and announced a $9,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
Police also said they can now confirm there were two shooters and are searching for the persons of interest in connection to the shooting.
Four of the five victims have been released from the hospital, and another victim remains in stable condition, according to Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley.
"We can't arrest someone if we don't know who they are," Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said on Friday as he asked for the public's help in the case.
The shooting Tuesday night left the community shaken as it happened during the university's Homecoming Weekend. This is the third year in a row that homecoming activities have been marred by gun violence.
"Everything's not normal. Everything doesn't feel normal," Morgan State University student Kelsi Jones said.
Classes and homecoming events were canceled in the wake of the shooting and Friday afternoon, Morgan State University President David Wilson said classes will resume Monday.
"We have reached out to all of our faculty and have asked them to provide flexibility in responding to the needs of our students next week," Wilson said.
In the absence of homecoming festivities, the campus seems almost empty, Jones said.
"It's dead," she said." There's not a lot of people here. Everyone went home."
Increased security has been added around campus and to residence halls,Morgan State University Police Chief Lance Hatcher. Hatcher said Friday he does not believe the shooting was related to homecoming events.
Morgan State University student Mehki said he found the outcome of Tuesday's violence to be disheartening.
"The one time of year Morgan spirit is really alive, it's literally dead; it's kind of upsetting," he said.
