MLB Offseason Wrap Up

Jeffery Todd of MLB Trade Rumors joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to recap the MLB offseason and to also preview the 2015 regular season. Scott kicked things off by asking Jeff to break down the newest Oriole Travis Snider. "The team was looking all winter for a left-handed outfielder and they got one. From the outside I was always a little curious because they had De Aza and David Lough in the mix there. But obviously they felt like they needed another guy. Snider has never quite lived up to to the player that everyone had hoped he would be until last year. He had a real nice season last year, solid on base, solid pop, just a real solid player."

The Orioles faced a lot of criticism for not bringing back fan favorite Nick Markakis. However Scott brought up that Snider appears to be a pretty good replacement for Markakis. "Absolutely, Nick Markakis is a bout five years older than Snider. Obviously he has a much more significant salary, you have the injury questions with the neck, he just had surgery and for my money I would rather take the chance on a guy like Snider, He's a guy you can easily platoon."

Jeff went on to give his thoughts on who had the best off season in the American League East. "The Jays obviously were aggressive, they got Donaldson and they got Russell Martin among other pieces and you add two players like that and you go hey the have to be better... Certainly the Red Sox, you saw the way they were able to at the trade deadline last year to cash in some of their expiring assets and trade them in for still valuable guys at the Major League level. That kind of set them up for the additional retooling that they did."
