Mike Preston Reviews Ravens Win Over The Saints
Mike Preston covers the Ravens and writes a column for the Baltimore Sun Sports section.
Mike joined Ed and Steve to re-cap the Ravens 30-27 win over the Saints in the pre-season opener last night.
Steve asked Mike to give his thoughts on how the Ravens played last night. Mike was impressed with the play of our offensive line and quarterback Matt Schaub, but didn't like what he saw from our backups in the secondary saying, "the offensive line just mauled the saints, Matt Schaub actually was pretty good, and over on the defensive side the secondary, in particular the second group, they're tackling was atrocious."
Ed asked Mike about what we should take from our starting offense. Mike wasn't surprised to see that our quarterbacks did well to involve our tailbacks in the passing game saying, "it's been a staple of Trestman's offense for years to get the backs involved, but as far as receivers, outside of Steve Smith, what else do we have to help out Joe Flacco. They have to get Breshad Perriman back, he's our only deep threat."
Mike went on to discuss the play of rookies Carl Davis, Max Williams and Nick Boyle, as well as players whom he thought didn't help their case to impress coaches in their first preseason game as they bid to make the Ravens final 53 man roster.
