Measure To Ban 'Ghost Guns' In Maryland To Have Hearing
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — A bill to ban untraceable "ghost guns" is being considered by state lawmakers.
The homemade weapons are made from parts that don't have serial numbers or other identifying markings.
Under federal law, only the receiver part of a gun is considered a firearm, but this allows people to bypass criminal background checks, which are required for firearm purchases, by buying unfinished receivers.
Those are receivers that don't have serial numbers and can be made functional with additional work.
