Md. To Discuss New Phase Aiding Immigrant Youth
HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland officials will be discussing efforts to help unaccompanied immigrant youth who are fleeing violence in Central America.
Ted Dallas, the head of Maryland's Department of Human Resources, is scheduled to talk about the latest efforts with other officials on Wednesday in Hyattsville.
Anne Sheridan, executive director of the Governor's Office for Children, and Maria Martinez, chair of the Governor's Commission on Hispanic Affairs, also are scheduled to attend.
They are scheduled to announce new community resources for families and communities who are providing the unaccompanied children a place to stay during federal legal proceedings.
