Md. School Bus Crash At Stoplight Probed

WALKERSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says it's investigating whether a school bus ran a red light before an accident near Walkersville that sent 11 children and three adults to the hospital to be checked for minor injuries.

The crash occurred Friday morning at the intersection of Route 194 and Stauffer Road.

Capt. Tim Clarke says the bus carrying 27 elementary students was northbound on 194 when it was struck just ahead of the rear wheels by an eastbound vehicle. The back end of the bus swerved across the center line and hit a vehicle traveling south.

Sgt. Michael Grunwell says it's likely that either the bus or the other vehicle ran a red light.
