Md. Parents Charged After Kids, Ages 4 & 5, Arrived To School Smelling Of Pot

WESTERNPORT, Md. (AP) -- A western Maryland couple faces drug charges after police searched their home because school officials said their children smelled of marijuana.

The Cumberland Times-News reports that 41-year-old Donald Cosner and 28-year-old Amanda Perry were free on bail Monday following their arrest last week in Westernport.

Neither could be reached by The Associated Press for comment. They have no home telephone listing and no defense attorney is listed in court records.

Police say school officials reported Wednesday that the couple's 4- and 5-year-old children had arrived at school smelling of marijuana.

Police say a search of their home yielded about 1 1/2 pounds of pot, a marijuana plant and numerous hypodermic needles with suspected heroin residue.

Police say Child Protective Services has the children and a third child, age 7.
