Md. Officers' Last Names Released In Fatal Shooting

RANDALLSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Baltimore County Police Department has released the last names of two officers who shot and killed a man who refused to drop a knife at a convenience store.

Cpl. John Wachter identified them as Officer Beccio, a six-year veteran, and Officer Miller, a 12-year veteran. Wachter declined to release their first names, saying the department made an agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police to only release surnames.

The officers were called to a 7-Eleven store in Randallstown early Saturday for a report of a man with a knife. The officers ordered the man to drop the knife and when he refused, tried to subdue him with a stun gun before opening fire.

The man, identified as 56-year-old Edward Bright, later died at a hospital.
