Md. Governor-Elect Larry Hogan To Announce Tax Cut

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- Keeping a little more for yourself. Maryland Governor-elect Larry Hogan says he'll announce a tax cut.

Political reporter Pat Warren reports he won't say how much or where the cut will come until the day after he's inaugurated.

Marylanders, tax dollars and a new administration. Governor-elect Larry Hogan announced more cabinet appointees Thursday, but it was all about the money.

"No question in our initial first session we're going to have some tax cuts," said Hogan.

For years, voters protested tax hikes.

"I think that it's wrong," said one woman.

"If they run the budget like my family does, like my friends do, cut the expenses," said one man.

Now it appears some of those taxes will be cut back. As pointed out in a campaign ad in the gubernatorial election, there are lots of taxes to choose from.

But the governor-elect Thursday fended off questions about which ones he'll cut and by how much.

Warren: "Can you tell us more what those might be?"

Hogan: "I could, but I'm not going to."

Warren: "You have some in mind?"

"We do," said Hogan. "When we're ready to announce--as a matter of fact--I'm going to be sworn in in 13 days, 12 o'clock noon. Twenty-four hours later, we're going to have a press conference on the budget and you'll hear lots of information then."

Inauguration day is less than two weeks away.

Opening day for the General Assembly is Wednesday, Jan. 14.
