Md. Del. Robert Costa Says He's Retiring

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Del. Robert Costa says he is retiring from Maryland's General Assembly after this year.

The Capital of Annapolis reports Costa, who represents south Anne Arundel County, made the announcement Friday. Costa, a Republican and retired firefighter, says he never planned to make a career out of working in the legislature.

Costa has been a member of the 141-member House of Delegates since 2003. Much of his legislative record has dealt with health care reform. One of his most controversial votes came in 2012 when he was one of just two Republican delegates to vote in favor of same-sex marriage.
