Matt Zenitz Checks In From College Park
Matt Zenitz from The Terps Beat of The Baltimore Sun joins The Scott Garceau Show with Terry Ford to discuss Iowa coming in to town for The Terps Homecoming game. Tomorrow is University of Maryland's Homecoming, and they have a big game against Iowa. This is an important game for Maryland to show that they are qualified to compete in the BIG 10. Iowa is coming in with a 5-1 record and at the top of their division. But this won't be a game like Ohio State University. "The offensive line has struggled this year. Their running game is 3.8 yards per carry. For them to have success, not only tomorrow, but going forward they need to do a better job of running the ball." With Iowa's track record, "this is a winnable game for Maryland" states Zenitz.
Maryland is coming off a bye this week and Terry was questioning what the extra week off will do for The Terps. Zenitz says "you get healthier. CJ Brown is a savvy 5th year senior, he will help put people in the right position." Having a bye week is definitely a way to help rest injuries as well as "different people on the defensive side of the ball have had a chance to rest."
Ohio State University came in a couple weeks ago and ruled Maryland. With such a devastating loss, people often wonder it that deflates you or motivates you. Zenitz believes the vibe of the team is simple. "Maryland just wants to get out there and get on the win column. They got overpowered over the course of that [OSU] game." The Iowa game this weekend is "another opportunity for them that they can compete with the BIG 10 teams." Iowa is not going to be another repeat of The Ohio State game, but they still need to on their game. The Homecoming game will be close to a sold out crowd.
