Maryland's Melo Trimble Named B1G Co-Player of the Week

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Maryland junior guard Melo Trimble was named Big Ten Conference Co-Player of the Week.

Trimble tied his career-high with 31 points in an 88-82 overtime win over Richmond last Friday and followed with 18 points, including a game-winning acrobatic layup with 6.6 seconds left to defeat Kansas State, 60-59, last Saturday to lead the Terps to the Barclays Center Classic championship.

The Upper Marlboro, Md., native averaged 24.5 points and connected on 16-of-31 field goal attempts en route to earning Most Valuable Player honors.

In addition, Trimble scored a game-high 21 points and connected on 10-of-11 free throw attempts en route to Maryland's 77-63 win over Stony Brook last Tuesday.

It is the third career weekly honor for Trimble and the first for a Terrapin this season.

Maryland – which is 7-0 on the year – meets Pittsburgh in the ACC/B1G Challenge on Tuesday, Nov 29 at 7:00 p.m. at XFINITY Center.
