Maryland Weather: It's About Time For A Nice Day

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- After a recent bout of dreary weather, we finally have a nice day to look forward to.

We started off our Friday dry, calm, clear and mild, and we have relatively good weather in store for the rest of the day.

It will be mostly sunny today with a breeze blowing in from the southwest and highs near 64 degrees.

A weak disturbance near the Great Lakes region is driving patchy clouds and spotty showers our way.

Expect those to arrive tonight in central Maryland when we'll be mostly cloudy with showers likely between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.

An upper-level low will continue to influence the region through part of the weekend, bringing unsettled conditions.

On Saturday, we'll see a high near 56 with some scattered showers, though that will be mostly after 2 p.m.

Saturday night is shaping up to be partly cloudy with the occasional shower before 8 p.m.

Sunday should turn out to be the coolest day of the forecast period with high temperatures stuck in the mid-50s.

Once again, a stray shower cannot be ruled out for Sunday with clouds and breaks of sun.

Some improvement is expected early next week in the form of high pressure with warmer conditions.

Opening Day forecast continues to be favorable. Temperatures soar quickly into the 80 range into midweek.

By the way, the Atlantic hurricane season outlook is out, and Colorado State University predicts an above-average 19 named storms.

The National Weather Service will release its own set of projections in a few days.

It will be interesting to see how those two stack up against one another, as they usually compete for the most accurate prediction.
