Maryland Weather: A break from the heat with showers on tap

Derek Beasley has your Tuesday evening forecast

BALTIMORE -- We are snapping our heat wave today.

After eight days of highs in the 90s, we'll top out in the low 80s this afternoon.

These Tuesday skies will be rather gray with a chance for a few showers by the late afternoon and evening.

The best bet for rain and storms is over southern Maryland as a cold front parks itself just south of the state.

The front will drift north towards central Maryland Wednesday and Thursday, keeping chances for storms in the mix.

Repeated rounds of heavy rain might cause some isolated flood concerns through Thursday.

The front will make a final push through the area, ending rain chances by Friday afternoon or evening.

Temps return to the upper 80s and low 80s Wednesday and Thursday with mid 80s on tap Friday through Sunday.
