Maryland Weather: Warm Halloween & Friday, then cooler weekend

Warm Halloween in Maryland

BALTIMORE -- Unseasonable warmth will be around through Halloween, so trick-or-treaters will not need jackets Thursday evening.

Unseasonably warm air continues to move into the area. High temperatures reached the upper 70s and lower 80s Wednesday afternoon with the warmest temperatures occurring away from Chesapeake Bay. Warm weather will continue through this evening with temperatures remaining in the 70s through 6 PM. Overnight lows tonight will not be nearly as chilly as recent nights with lows in the mid to upper 50s.

Halloween will feature outstanding weather for the trick-or-treaters. Temperatures early in the day will start off in the middle to upper 50s. With plenty of sunshine and a gusty southwest wind, temperatures will soar well into the upper 70s & lower 80s. Trick-or-treating weather continues to look warm and dry. 4 PM temperatures will be in the upper 70s, 6 PM temperatures in the middle 70s, and 8 PM weather will be in the lower 70s. Sunset is at 6:05 PM. Make sure the kids are wearing reflective gear after sunset, so they can be seen by commuters on the road,.

A cold front will cross the area Thursday night into early Friday. This front will have a round of showers with it as it approaches from the west. The coverage area of the showers will slowly diminish as it approaches the area early Friday. By the time the front reaches our area, a leftover spotty sprinkle or shower is possible. Rainfall amounts will likely remain less than 1/10th of an inch.

Friday will turn breezy behind the front, but the temperatures don't really cool off much. Highs will top out in the middle to upper 70s.

Seasonably cool air will be around for the weekend with highs in the lower 60s Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will feature more sunshine out of both weekend days. Sunday has a mixture of clouds and some sunshine. The weather does look cool & crisp for the Ravens game at 1 PM Sunday afternoon.

Don't forget that clocks 'fall back' by one hour Saturday night into Sunday morning at 2 AM Sunday. While we gain an extra hour of sleep, the sunset will take place an hour earlier at 5:02 PM EST Sunday. Don't forget to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors Saturday night as well.

Early next week will feature increasing warmth. Highs on Monday will rise into the middle to upper 60s. Election Day Tuesday looks like a fantastic weather day with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s. Dry voting weather from when the polls open until the polls close.

Warm weather continues into the middle of next week before we cool down late next week and may have a chance of showers.
