Maryland Weather: Hot & steamy Tuesday, with possible storms
BALTIMORE -- We may finally be seeing the end of these miserable, sweltering, steamy, sultry, hot, annoying, uncomfortable, unrelenting, humid dog days of Summer... but I digress.
It will be mostly sunny this morning and afternoon, with a high of 95. With the humidity, heat index values could be as high as 107, according to the National Weather Service.
We could be seeing scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, and there's also a slight chance of showers overnight.
The best chance of storms is after 4 p.m.
A pair of cold fronts moving in from the Great Lakes region will bring rain through Wednesday. It will also be the transition to drier, clear, and more comfortable days heading toward the weekend.
Get through a gray and damp "Hump Day," and the payoff will be worth it.
Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa has extended a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for Tuesday.
Extreme heat is particularly dangerous for young children, seniors and people with chronic medical conditions, city health officials said.
Residents are advised to drink lots of water, avoid alcohol and reduce outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the day, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There is a Heat Advisory in effect for both shores of the bay until 7 p.m. on the Western Shore and until 8 p.m. on the Eastern Shore.
Moisture levels near the water are creating higher dewpoints and less comfortable conditions in that region, so while the advisory has not been expanded do not expect it to be much more comfortable around most of the viewing area.
