Maryland Weather: Wintry weather possible for Tuesday morning
BALTIMORE -- Today is the final of four WJZ Alert Days in a row. Today's Alert Day is for the risk of wintry weather, particularly freezing rain, for the first half of the day.
A Canadian cold front will approach the region tomorrow. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most of Maryland.
Light freezing rain, snow and even some sleet pellets (for western Maryland, mostly) will move through. There may be some concern about freezing rain at the onset on all paved surfaces including sidewalks in western Maryland..
Slowly but surely, mixed precipitation will turn into rain and any potential freezing conditions will end around midday. Stay weather aware and stay with WJZ on air as conditions could vary from neighborhood to neighborhood.
Portions of central, north central, northeast and northern Maryland could be impacted by this event. Farther south, normal rain is expected.
Highs will reach the low 40s.
Christmas Day and the beginning of Hanukkah are expected to remain dry, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 40s. Thursday will also be mainly dry, with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-40s. Temperatures will stay in the mid to upper 40s, near seasonal averages, as we head toward the end of the week. Our next chance for rain holds off until the final weekend of the year.
Stay warm, Maryland!
