Maryland Weather: ALERT DAYS now into Sunday for severe storms

Isolated severe storms are possible this evening into tonight

BALTIMORE -- Isolated severe storms are possible this evening into tonight. More widespread strong storms are likely Sunday. FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS have been issued for this evening into the early overnight hours and again on Sunday for more widespread strong to severe storm chances.

It's been a steamy and hot Saturday afternoon with high temperatures in the lower 90s. Factor in the humidity, and feels like temperatures have soared into the upper 90s. So far it's been a dry and quiet day with a mixture of sunshine & clouds.

Isolated to scattered strong to severe storms are possible this evening into the early overnight hours. While not everyone will see these storms, places that do could experience damaging winds and the threat of an isolated tornado. Right now the highest risk appears to be just north & west of Baltimore across Carroll, Baltimore, and Harford counties. However, isolated severe storms cannot be ruled out anywhere in our region.

We'll likely see several rounds of strong to severe storms on Sunday. We are in a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms. Clouds with limited sunshine is expected during the morning, which will allow temperatures to quickly soar into the lower 90s by lunchtime. Clusters of strong to severe storms are likely from early Sunday afternoon through the mid-evening hours. There will be several gaps when it's not raining, so Sunday will not be a washout. Highs will top out in the lower 90s with feels like temperatures near 100.

Damaging winds will be the greatest risk from severe storms Sunday afternoon and evening, but heavy downpours, intense lightning, and an isolated tornado may impact us.

Monday and Tuesday look fabulous! Low humidity, plenty of sunshine, and comfortable temperatures. Highs on Monday will top out in the lower 80s. Expect middle 80s Tuesday with highs returning to near 90 on Wednesday. All of these days look dry with plenty of sunshine.

Intense heat, humidity, and strong storms are possible 4th of July (Thursday) through Saturday afternoon. Highs in the middle 90s, feels like temperatures in the lower 100s, and strong to severe storms possible each afternoon and early evening.
