Maryland Weather: Clouds & More Clouds, Plus Friday's An Alert Day

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Clouds and more clouds. That's what we're dealing with this Thursday.

Gray skies will keep temperatures from nudging must past 70 degrees.

There is a small chance for a few spotty sprinkles this afternoon, but most of us will stay dry.

That will not be the case on Friday when a strong front will trigger rain and thunderstorms.

With most of Maryland facing a slight risk for severe thunderstorms, the First Alert Weather team has declared Friday an Alert Day.

Heavy downpours, damaging winds and hail are all possible as a front tracks through our region.

The timing is something we're watching closely.

So far, it looks storms move through western Maryland between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and central Maryland between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

We'll see a mix of sun and clouds on Saturday with a chance for a stray afternoon thunderstorm.

The rest of our holiday weekend looks bright and very warm with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 80s on Sunday and Memorial Day.
