Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Hit And Run

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WJZ )-- Maryland State Police are investigating after a fatal hit and run in the College Park area.

Police received a call shortly before 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning for a report of a body along the roadway on I-495 at I-95 northbound in the College Park area.

When troopers arrived, they found an unidentified adult male and debris from a vehicle. EMS also responded to the area and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Investigators collected evidence at the scene of the fatal accident that indicates the striking vehicle was a 2018 or 2019 silver Nissan Altima with extensive damage to the front end and passenger side.

Troopers believe the man was on foot at the time of the accident and he was struck sometime between 3 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.
