Community Reaction
Elkton residents were surprised by the large police presence in their neighborhood.
"I came downstairs to check the mail. I opened the mailbox and I was like, 'Woah, what is going on?'" said Andrea, a Cecil County resident.
Another neighbor who did not want to talk on camera said she heard multiple gunshots Saturday morning.
She said she had never experienced that while living in the neighborhood.
Crime scene tape roped off a section of Chestnut Drive. Behind the tape, more than 20 police evidence markers were on the ground.
Police had at least three vehicles towed from the scene.
"It's scary..."
This scene comes as no surprise to Adonis Wilkins.
"It's not the first time a shooting like this has happened," he said. "It's been multiple shootings the past four, five years...It's kind of terrible because kids and stuff be out here."
Wilkins recalled seeing a gathering in the area the night before.
"They were having a little event," Wilkins said. "I went home and went to sleep. I didn't realize what happened until I woke up this morning and saw everything was blocked off."
"It's scary," Andrea said. "Now, I'm wondering if it's safe."
Andrea feels heartbroken for the victims and their families. Now, she questions her safety considering Saturday's crime scene was across the street from her home.
"I don't want to get used to that," she said. "So, I wish there would be a resolution. I'm not sure what kind of resolution would but this is not safe. This is not a safe environment."
Andrea said she's most concerned about her son when he comes home from work overnight.
"I really don't want to have to think about him getting to the door and right outside the door, something was to happen to him," she said.
A State Police spokesperson said there's no threat to the public.
No further information has been disclosed about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the whereabouts of any suspects involved, or related details.
