Maryland Men's and Women's Lacrosse Teams Are Final Four Bound

The Maryland Men's and Women's Lacrosse teams look to match a feat that former conference foe North Carolina achieved just last season.

Both teams are looking to bring National Championships back to College Park but must first get past tough opponents in the national semifinals. The Terrapin Men (14-3) will face Denver in one-half of the Final Four. The Pioneers (13-3), who won the national championship in 2015, defeated Notre Dame to clinch their berth in the Final Four. The Terrapins are looking to win the school's first Men's lacrosse Championship since 1975.

The undefeated Terrapin Women (21-0) will face conference foe Penn State (17-3) in a rematch of last month's thriller 16-14 in State College. The Terp Women are making their ninth straight appearance in the national semifinals and are seeking its third national championship in four years.

Players on both teams said that they are excited about the possibility of both teams winning national championships in the same season. Terrapins senior attackman Matt Rambo acknowledged that a chance to join a select fraternity of school's to win both the Men's and Women's lacrosse championships brings a level of excitement.

"It's exciting to have both the men and women in the Final Four," said Rambo. "We have a chance to do something special.
