Maryland Council To Meet On Criminal Justice Reform

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland panel examining criminal justice reform is set to meet again.

The Maryland Justice Reinvestment Coordinating Council is scheduled to meet Friday in Annapolis.

The panel was created this year by the Legislature. It has been using a data-driven approach to develop a statewide framework of sentencing and corrections policies to reduce Maryland's incarcerated population and control corrections spending.

The state has been getting technical assistance from the Pew Charitable Trusts and its partner, the Crime and Justice Institute at Community Resources for Justice.
