Maryland Coach Sasho Cirovski Comments On Iceland Victory Over England
/ CBS Baltimore
Baltimore (WJZ) -- Sasho Cirovski, soccer coach of the University of Maryland, joined the Norris and Davis show to talk about Iceland's improbable 2-1 victory over England in Euro 2016. Coach Cirvoski has led Maryland to National Championships in both 2005 and 2008.
Many are calling Iceland's victory the biggest upset in the history of sports. But Cirovski isn't ready to give them that nod due to England's struggles in recent years: "England is the most over-hyped and the most pressure-packed country in the world to producing soccer. And they have not done well in international competition for such a long time that it's hard to put it up there as the greatest upset."
Cirovski also spoke about Lionel Messi retirement from international play announcement: "He's not a quitter. I think that he's a person that deeply cares about his country. I think he'll be back."
