Man Who Broke Up Essex Bar Fight Dies After Assault

ESSEX, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County Police say a man who was assaulted after he helped break up a fight outside an Essex bar has died.

Officers say 59-year-old William Earl Law of Essex died Thursday at Shock Trauma, where he was taken after the Aug. 4 incident.

Police say Law and several others broke up a fight between two people in the parking lot of Sylvester's Tavern. Officers say as Law was walking away from the scene, a man struck him in the head.

Forty-four-year-old George Lawrence McGraw of Essex was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with assault.

Police say the state's attorney's office will decide if more charges will be brought.
