Man Shot By Police At Bank In Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say an officer shot and killed a man after police were called to a bank in Silver Spring for a reported trespasser.

The shooting occurred shortly before noon Tuesday at the Capital One branch on Arliss Street. Police say a man behaving erratically displayed a knife and threatened the safety of officers.

Police say officers Michael Damskey and Marcus Lee shot the man, identified as 54-year-old Donovan Dayton of Silver Spring, in the torso. He died at a local hospital.

Authorities say two officers involved have been put on routine paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
