Man Sentenced To 20 Years In Maryland Shooting

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A man convicted of shooting another man in the back of the head in Brooklyn Park has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Twenty-four-year-old Lamont Dorian Beasley of Baltimore had been convicted in May of attempted first-degree murder. He was sentenced Thursday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.

The Capital of Annapolis reports that prosecutors say Beasley shot Melvin Eugene Johnson on April 25, 2013, outside Charlie Ward's Convenience Store. Authorities say the shooting appeared to be drug and gang related.
