Man convicted in "heinous" murder of 91-year-old in Baltimore County sentenced to four decades in prison
BALTIMORE -- Gary Parrish, who was convicted in the murder of a 91-year-old man in Baltimore County, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Norman Albert Sr. was found dead in his home back in Perry Hall in August 2021. Police described Parrish as someone who did odd jobs for Albert Sr.
Parrish was in court on Monday for sentencing. He was found guilty of second-degree murder back in November.
Norman Albert Jr. said his dad was his hero in life and he hasn't had one normal night of sleep since the brutal murder.
The judge described the murder as "heinous" and "horrific" before she sentenced Parrish to four decades in prison.
"I am glad that the guy got 40 years," Albert Jr. said. "I didn't want it to be any less than that, to be honest with you."
During the sentencing hearing, the judge said this is the most horrific second-degree murder that she had heard during her time on the bench.
Albert Sr. was found beaten to death in his home.
His son spoke during the sentencing hearing and told the judge that he would never get over this.
Albert Jr. said he will never be the same as he was before his dad was murdered, just two doors down from his home.
"I was right there in my house and he was beating my dad to death and I couldn't do nothing," Albert Jr. said. "Nothing to help my dad. Nothing."
Parrish begged for leniency and told the judge that he would never hurt he elderly man and he definitely did not kill him.
