Man Gets 8 Years For Robbing Prostitutes

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A man who prosecutors say posed as a police officer and kidnapped, sexually assaulted and robbed prostitutes has been sentenced to more than 8 years in prison.

Nineteen-year-old Ajibola Erogbogbo of Laurel, who pleaded guilty to robbery in March, was sentenced Friday in federal court in Greenbelt.

According to his plea agreement, beginning in January 2014, Erogbogbo arranged to meet women who offered sex through online ads at local hotels.

Authorities say Erogbogbo would arrive wearing a vest that said "police" and would show the women a badge and a gun. Prosecutors say he told the women they were under arrest, handcuffed them, robbed them, and in one case, sexually assaulted a woman.

Authorities say state law enforcers set up a sting and arrested Erogbogbo in February 2014.
