The medical examiner ruled Dennis Buckley's death on Lachlan Circle Friday morning a homicide by knife wound.
Person Found 'Bleeding Profusely' At Towson Apartment Complex
Police arrived in the 6900 block of Lachlan Circle around 9:47 a.m. and found a man bleeding in the parking lot.
He was taken to an area hospital for treatment but died.
Police believed the man had suffered significant trauma to his upper body.
On Sunday, police identified the man as 47-year-old Buckley.
A resident in the same apartment complex told WJZ he was approached by a man with a knife just four hours before this incident.
"I just thought I got really lucky, to be honest with you," said JD Blewett, a neighbor who said he came face to face with the man before Buckley was killed.
Early Friday morning, Blewett said he was walking his dog outside TowsonTown Place Apartment when he said he was quickly approached and threatened by a man he had seen acting aggressively the day before.
"He told me, 'Hey this is my side of the street, you need to get off,' and I took two steps back and saw he had a knife in his hand and he just quickly got irate, as if he were like a dog protecting his territory," Blewett said.
Blewett ran home after the man flailed the knife and tried to kick his dog, and just four hours after he called police after this encounter, Buckley was found stabbed to death in the same parking lot.
"He tried to kick my dog as hard as he could. I got the dog away. He was flailing the knife around, and we high-tailed it back to my apartment and called police," Blewett added.
"The caller said that there was a person who was lying on the sidwalk, bleeding profusely, and was unconscious," said Officer Jennifer Peach, Baltimore County Police.
The victim lived just one building over from where he was found.
No one has been arrested.
The apartment complex where the stabbing occurred is near Towson University's campus and is a popular off-campus housing complex. The university notified students about the incident Friday.
Signs were posted on every door of the complex, urging residents to stay vigilant, get to know their neighbors, and as Blewett did, report anything suspicious to the police.
"It didn't seem like a person who was all there. It seemed like there was something wrong with him and this was like, the moment it was happening," Blewett said.
Whether this murder was targeted or random. residents at the complex are waiting for answers- and locking their doors.
