Man Dead After Car Crash In Oxon Hill

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Police in Prince George's County say a 27-year-old man is dead after a solo-car crash in Oxon Hill.

Police say they were called Sunday around 3 a.m. to the 8800-block of Oxon Hill Road for a report of a crash. Police say when they arrived they found an SUV had veered off the road and hit a tree. The driver of the vehicle, Jerry Garris Jr. of Fort Washington, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Garris was not wearing a seat belt.

Investigators are looking into whether speed played a role in the crash.
