Man Charged With Murder After Shooting Victim Dies
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A man charged with assault after a teenager was shot in southeast Washington has been charged with murder after the youth died.
Metropolitan Police said Wednesday that 22-year-old Derryck Antjuan Decuir was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder while armed in the death of 16 year-old Malik Mercer of Clinton, Maryland.
Mercer was wounded in a shooting on June 16 and died Friday. Decuir had been arrested on Friday and charged with assault with intent to kill while armed.
