Man Charged With Beating Mother To Death With Rolling Pin

BOWIE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County Police have charged a Bowie man with beating his mother to death with a rolling pin during an argument.

Officers say on Sept. 6, 22-year-old Charles Crockett repeatedly hit his mother, 55-year-old Roberta Susan Crockett, in the head with a rolling pin. Investigators say a relative intervened, injured Charles Crockett with the rolling pin, and restrained him until police arrived.

Roberta Crockett was taken to a hospital, where she died on Wednesday. On Thursday, police charged Charles Crockett with first- and second-degree murder.

He is being held without bail. Online court records do not list a lawyer for him.
