Man Arrested In Road Rage Incident

JOPPA, Md. (WJZ) -- A terrifying case of road rage in Harford County. A man survives after police say another driver hit him with his car, followed him and dragged him 50 feet across a parking lot.

That driver is now facing attempted murder charges.

Meghan McCorkell explains how it all happened.

Investigators say 27-year-old Matthew Bredlow chased down another driver and smashed right into him.

It started along Route 40 in Joppa around 4 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators say 27-year-old Matthew Bredlow got into a confrontation with another driver, who tried to escape.

"The victim decided he didn't want any part of this and pulled over into the parking lot to try to get away from it," said Kyle Andersen, Harford County Sheriff's Office.

But police say Bredlow followed the 34-year-old into a parking lot. The man got out of his vehicle. That's when investigators say Bredlow started driving right at him.

The man tried to duck behind his own car, but was hit and dragged 50 feet across the parking lot.

"To me, it's shocking, it's scary. It makes you wonder what you've got to worry about," said Dena Wagner, driver.

Bredlow sped away, but witnesses were able to identify his car, which led police to him.

"Just to think that something like that happened so close to home, it's a little scary," said driver Kelly Garrison.

The scary fact--road rage is on the rise in the U.S.

"You do have a lot of aggressive drivers and people honking at people and stuff like that," said Nicole Figuero, driver.

Police say the victim in this case did almost everything right.

"I would suggest to a citizen that if you pull over, call 911," said Andersen.

Matthew Bredlow is charged with attempted murder and assault.

The victim in this case was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

Matthew Bredlow is being held on $500,000 bond.
